minimum-contrast muting colors too quickly

Hi, I'm not sure if this would be addressed by PRs such as #4913 but there seems to be a meaningful difference in how Ghostty executes it's minimum-contrast vs other terminals such as iTerm.

When using the same contrast settings between Ghostty (left) and iTerm (right), Ghostty replaces colors with black immediately whereas iTerm keeps the colors (which are legible). Are there other settings that need to be paired with minimum-contrast here?

That's just how minimum-contrast works currently, sadly. See #3869.

Thanks for the issue link, I read through that issue but I still have questions. Is this something that may change in the future or is in the roadmap of things to change? Or is this probably how this will remain?

It may change but nobody has gotten to it. FWIW this is exactly how Kitty implements its minimum contrast as well. We're a bit short-staffed when it comes to the renderer, so it may stay this way for a while.

Thanks for the explanation. I look forward to it working more like iTerm in this respect :) but it's a great application regardless.
