Could someone please confirm whether Pimbd has "successfully" configured and interoperated using pimbd hosted on Openwrt 21+ and either a "Cisco or Juniper" router which is configured to provide the core network and PIM RP services for a bidirectional ipv6 multicast network. ? If so could I have a recommended configuration :)
LAB1:
I have built two labs one is an opensource Pimbd Lab on OpenWrt v21+ devices which works very well (Thankyou!)
LAB2:
The other has a router lent and configured by the NZ Juniper rep but he is not able to help with Pimbd.
This Router reports all five "inet6 PimBD neighbours" are Active and Bi-directional capable but then it does not Register any Joins or forward source traffic to receivers.
Is this because "pimbd" does not "unicast ensapsulate" the multicast Register messages and source traffic as it seems the Juniper RP Router expects or is it something else ? This is above my IQ. ;)
The way I understood my readings about pimbd was that IPv6 pimbd was compatible with the bidirectional PIM IPv6 rfcs so I hope that it can interoperate with rfc compatible routers.
We are trying to stand up this this lab up so that we can test it on our Public Fibre network, To do this we need an opensource solution in the customer premises, To meet NZ Security requirements we have to use certified routers which our govt approves at the Core.
PS I think I do this for love not money :) Hope you can assist and the beers on me.
Best regards
