I found this to be an issue for other special characters (\:# etc) and I suspect it's because they're illegal characters in Microsoft Windows systems.

I'm not a developer, but I'd say the bug is not on Nicotine's side. If both peers are using unix-based operating systems, there's no issue.

This is now resolved, as long as the uploader is using Nicotine+ 1.4.3, and the downloader is using Nicotine+ 1.4.3 or the official Soulseek client.

Sharing files with special character file names will not work if the downloader is using the old Soulseek NS client, but there's nothing we can do about it. Happens if SoulseekQt is sharing too.
